Thumb's in; Milk's out

Developmental feat of the day:
Little Z has been working hard on his thumbsucking technique. Day after day, he tries to wedge a fist or a thumb in his mouth. (To be exact, he has shown a strong preference for his left fist or thumb.) Most times, that darn fist jerks away from his little mouth, making this educational experience very frustrating. Compounding the problem is that he has learned to spit his pacifier clear across the room, but not how to fetch it. Mom has been only marginally successful at this fetch game. Thus the need for a thumb. Since last night, Z has successfully gotten that darn thumb in his mouth several times. Communicative Development:
Dad has been out of town since Monday. His absence is most pronounced at Z's bathtime. However, he keeps in contact with Z through this website and the telephone. Z listens very intently to his father's voice, and occasionaly cracks a big smile. See a photo of this above. Z has also learned how to make his displeasure known to his mom. Today, mom was doing her best to show off Z's cute smiles to her friend, Suzi. Z did not like his cuteness being trivialized, and when mom leaned in for a kiss, he barfed milk all over her face. 10 points for Z's marksmanship and effective communication, 0 points for mom's predictive abilities.
