Traveling Man

Thanks to all those who hosted and visited with us over the last two weeks. We had a great time! Amazingly, we made it home without a major breakdown. After a 3 hour car ride (it took us nearly an hour to get one mile, thanks to LA traffic), an hour in various airport lines and waiting areas, two rescheduled flights and one missed flight, we finally got on the plane for Austin. Sounds like that was the worst of it, right? Wrong.

Though we had intended to have a non-stop flight, we ended up with a layover in Vegas. After boarding the plane in Vegas, the temp climbed and the winds changed so we couldn't take off without unloading some fuel. 6,000 pounds of fuel lighter, we are ready to go...but then a gyroscopic gauge goes out. Another 45 minutes and a new one is installed and calibrated. Keep in mind it's like 115 in Vegas at this point, and the AC wasn't working. Someone eventually hooked us up to an external unit, so we wouldn't all roast before all repairs were made, but there was already a hot and sweaty stew of irrate, testy and nervous passengers. Finally we take off! But wait.... now we didn't have enough fuel to take us to Austin. So, we stopped AGAIN in Albequerque to refuel.

All told, we were traveling for about 14 hours. And did our sweet boy have one breakdown on the plane? You can bet your last diaper he didn't. He made all those whiney passengers look like weenies. The stewardess even gave him props over the PA system before the whiners were allowed to deplane.

I was curious to see how our WeeZ would react to his daddy, after a long travel day and not seeing him for nearly 2 weeks. Whaddayouknow, he gave him a big kicky smile as soon as he saw him, and a big chin kiss!

WeeZ, you are the gift that keeps on giving. We love you to piecers, babers.

Props to WeeZ! I hope A Dub takes a lesson from the little traveler and handles our trip to DC just as well.
