Celtic Festival
Because we are too sophisticated to attend the Renaissance Festival, we went to the FAR more respectable Celtic Festival of Austin. It's not nerdy at all. No, the jousting matches, replete with weapons made of wrapping paper rolls wrapped in duct tape and shields fashioned of PVC pipes and vinyl, were highly choreographed and technically advanced. We took the opportunity to teach our son about his roots in the motherland. 'In the old country, dear son, back when men were men, men wore skirts with no underwear, danced jigs on their toes, ate turkey legs with their hands and had giant dogs as their constant companions.'
None of these things seemed to appeal to Zach, save the giant dogs. He met an Irish wolfhound, Bailey, that he LOVED, and tried put his head in its mouth. Perhaps if it didn't have a 5 foot lick range, we could have discussed it, but it was too much slobbery dog for this Celtic lass.

After we saw that Celts leash their children, Zach insisted we leave immediately.

is there any correlation between early-in-life leashing and nerdiness?
on an unrelated note, shields are for punks. real men dual-wield.
